TEAM RANKINGS

Question: How should I rank my team?

Captains will select between the Competitive, Socially Competitive and Purely Social divisions to play in. Captains will also be able to select an option allowing us to schedule games with teams from the other division should the schedule require (if there are an odd number of teams in the divisions).

A Purely Social team is comprised of players who just want to play volleyball for the fun of it and meet new people. This division will not report a win-loss record. At the end of the season, an award will be voted on for the most fun team to play within the purely social division.

A Socially Competitive team is comprised mostly of level 1 to level 3 players who have never played before or have played and do not have extensive knowledge of volleyball. They will be placed in a less competitive league.

A Competitive team is comprised almost entirely of level 4 & level 5 players who have extensive knowledge and experience with volleyball. They will be placed in the competitive league.

INDIVIDUAL RANKINGS

Question: How should I self-rank myself?

A level 1 player has never played before. If they have played before, they have not yet begun to bump, set, and spike and generally aim just to return a ball. A level 1 player should not play in a more competitive league.

A level 2 player is a beginner, but should know the basics of volleyball, and played some volleyball before. They are just beginning to bump, set, and spike. A level 2 player should probably opt to play in a less competitive league.

A level 3 player is still in the early learning stages of the game but knows the skills. A level 3 player knows how to bump, set (a little), and spike, but has a lot of practice yet to go to be able to do these skills consistently. A level 3 player still makes mistakes often and may still consider a less competitive league.

A level 4 player has quite a bit of experience playing and knows where to be on the court at all times when plays are developing. They know where to be when the opponent is hitting. A level 4 player also knows the footwork of and how to approach hitting effectively. A level 4 player should be comfortable in a more competitive league.

A level 5 player has extensive playing experience. They know all the skills extremely well and can run combination plays in a basic way if passes are good. That includes slides, tandems, x's, crosses, and back-row hitting.

T-SHIRT/TANK TOP COLORS

Team T-shirt/Tank Top Colors - Team Captains will be able to choose their shirt color based upon the following parameters:

1. A team captain may elect to have either t-shirts or tank tops for their team. The team must have all t-shirts or all tank tops.

2. T-shirt/tank top color preferences will be honored based upon the order that teams complete their registration (having 6 registered members) and provided the captain requests T-shirt/tank top colors from the following T-Shirt color options link. T-shirt Color Options or Tank Top Color Options (once a team is granted a shirt color, subsequent requests for similar colors may not be granted at board discretion if it is deemed that the color request will make it difficult to discern one team from another). Tri-blends and neons are no longer available for tank tops - we apologize for any inconvenience.

3. Once a captain's shirt preference is logged, if that team decides to change shirt color preferences, their team's place in preference order may also change depending on the number of teams who have complete registrations and have provided accurate color option requests. The color requests must be reported to Richmond.courtsports@stonewallsports.org, even if the change is made on LeagueApps (the email timestamp will be used to determine new placement in preference order).
