Full Season Information: Spring 2021 Tennis Club Season Info Sheet

Season Structure - The Spring 2020 Tennis Club season will consist of a six-week Challenge Ladder (March 14 - April 22), two Court Days (March 14 & March 28), and a two Beneficiary Tournament (April 24 - Singles & April 25 Doubles).

  • Challenge Ladder - A Challenge Ladder will be in place where players can compete to climb their way to the top. The Challenge Ladder is open to all club members, and you can opt in or out at any time during the season. The Challenge Ladder will begin on Sunday, March 14, 2021 and conclude on Thursday, April 22, 2021 to allow for the tournament schedule to be finalized. The Challenge Ladder results will be utilized for tournament seeding. Challenge Ladder Rules can be found following this link.

  • Court Days - The Tennis Club will host its first Court Day on Sunday, March 14, 2021 from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM at Battery Park Tennis Courts. The second Court Day will occur on Sunday, March 28, 2021 from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM at Battery Park Tennis Courts. These Court Days will help introduce newer players to the sport of tennis and allow more experienced players to have their skills assessed, so they can be better matched with opponents of similar abilities at future club events.

  • Beneficiary Tournament - This Season the Tennis Club will host a two day Beneficiary Tournament on Saturday, April 24, 2021 (Singles Tournament) and April 25, 2021(Doubles Tournament) to benefit Stonewall Sport's Spring season beneficiary, Side by Side. The beneficiary tournament will be open to all Club Members (Registration will be separate and open at a later date). Tournament registration is free for Club members.

Shirts - To keep registration costs lower, no shirts will be ordered for this season of Stonewall tennis.

Mentorship Program - Similarly to the Fall 2020 season, members will be asked if they would be willing to serve as a club mentor or would like to be matched with a club mentor for the duration of the season. Club mentors are meant to be more skilled players who are willing to devote time to help their 1-2 mentees develop their tennis skills over the course of the season through meet-ups and practices. Those seeking a club mentor are meant to be newer to the sport and/or looking to more formally learn critical tennis skills outside of the challenge ladder or tournament.

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to reach out to Tennis Club Chair, Kory Painter (Richmond.Tennis@stonewallsports.org) or Kristian Robinson, Club Sports Director (richmond.clubsports@stonewallsports.org)

See you on the courts!
